Academic Poison ( The Meaning of Life)

A Post Inspired by news article from "The Star" where a student altered the SPM Results from 13 A1s & 2 A2s to 15 A1s in order to appeal for the scholarship.

I had gone through so many years of education in Malaysia. It was not tough, but what made my old days tough was getting excellent results for UPSR, PMR, SPM, & STPM. Well, these are the major examinations that determine the fate of a student.

If you did well in UPSR and PMR, you would have the chance to be in the spotlight like "American Idols"(^^). Plus, you would also be assigned to a more advanced class. Therefore, for some students, this would push them to score, score, and score their best in the exam. This is not the same for students who are not good in their studies. They are abandoned by their teachers~~~(Don't deny it; this is quite common in schooling days)

Then, here come SPM & STPM, these two examinations would either help you to get a scholarship for your course and get admission to a prestigious university or make your life difficult.

I was quite an average student who was quite fortunate to obtain a fair results for UPSR, PMR & SPM. (Btw, I did not take STPM, reason? Here) It had been 2 years since my SPM days. Well, it was one of the most devastating moments in my life. I was sure that I did not want to do STPM and just like any naive students, I though I would get a scholarship to study overseas. But, the truth was life was not that ideal; it was authentic than ever.

My father was also "drowned" in my problem. He wanted to study Sixth Form first, but, I stated my ground. Then, after a long and tired colleges and universities hunt, my father decided the best for me. It had already been 2 years.

Anyway, back to Academic Poison. As an average student, I know the importance of being honest. That student altered SPM results, to me, it was really pathetic - 13 A1s & 2A2s were not bad at all. I would salute her for having the guts to take up so many subjects. But, at the end, what is the point of doing that, if you are gonna cheat anyway.

We, students of Malaysia are poisoned with academically achievements. (I heard Singapore is even more "poisonous"). Yes, indeed, As can determine whether you can get a scholarship. However, if you have unpleasant personality, you would only do harm to yourself. I understand her situation; maybe, she was desperate to get a scholarhsip. I was desperate too. But, we have to face the fact that if it is not yours to take, it is fate!

That student should just summit her real results and let MCA do their stuffs - like go to the press or whatever. Now, that student might really lost all the chances. The mentality of getting excellent results is growing every day. Some students might even be suicidal if they did not get good results.

I would not want to "poison" the future with academic achievements. Not everyone is good in studies. Some are good in arts, writing, and etc. It is not compulsory for a student to run an academic cycle of life. (He did well in his studies - - - He got a scholarship - - - He graduated with 1st Honours - - - He found a great job as a doctor - - - ) I hope my life is like that too. But, again, sometimes, we have to be real in this world. Not everyone can stand the academic poison!

Sepang Circuit happened more than a month from now (6/4/09). Omg, I just wanted to update it now. Hahaha, officially, I am one of the most outdated person in the world. Anyway, with the examination over, I finally have the time to share the story.

It was a Sunday morning, I was told that the gathering was at the uni's bus stop. So, I was so excited and reached my uni an hour earlier and then, the buses came. Well, we were assigned to a lousy bus><. But, what the heck! We just wanted to enjoy the event. By the way, the tickets were about RM30.00 person including transportation. Why not? Since the usual price was about RM100.00 for students.

sepang visit
After hours of bus ride, we finally reached there - Sepang Circuit 2009; however, the drop-off point was totally way-off.

Before, the real race started, I was exploring the grandstand tower thoroughly. I really loved the interior design of the premise. It was unique and wing-like.

Now, it is time for the race to start! I have to tell you all to be prepared because it is gonna be crazily noisy and freakishly exciting!!!!! Wanna to hear it? Wanna to feel it? Are you sure? It would take your hearing away! It would accelerate your heat beat! It would impact you forever! By the way, you must have earplug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not bring mine, I regretted!!!!

Anyway, back to the lunch! Please guess how much was the food on the picture above? Surprisingly, it cost me RM25 for two cans of coca-cola and sandwich!!!! Yes, it was freaking expensive!!!! I had no choice! Well, I did. Most of my coursemates did not buy - they rather starved!!!! Anyway, I learned my lesson - don't eat one day, it won't kill you!

models of the day
Of course, it is like a tradition for My Little World blog to include models of the day picture. They are my coursemates Julv Gee and Amirah. Thanks for posing for me(^^).

the rainny day~sepang
Then, everything started to fall apart. Haha, yes, I am being dramatic! But, it was true. After buying the expensive lunch, it started to rain until the race was inevitably stopped. Then, we had to wait for hour for the bus under the rain! We had to cross the muddy field and walked under the rain><. Lastly, the shot of the day is.........................

Finally~~~Amazing Week @Biang Birthday Dinner at Chilis

I just reached KL from Ipoh. I totally missed Ipoh a lot already. The weather, the food, the food, and the people there are super cool!!!! Yes, I had a blast at home until I forgot to revise for my finals, update my blog..etc...I am going down. Anyway, before going down, today, I took the train from Ipoh to KL. Actually, it is quite convenient. However, every time I reach KL Central, I need to take the KTM. Haiz, I wonder why the train from Ipoh to KL could be that on time; on the hand, the intercity KTM train would always encounter unforeseen incident.

Okay, after today post, I would take a super long break really prepare for my finals since at home, there were temptations everywhere.
