Khmer Trip of Stone Temple Paradise (Siem Reap, Cambodia Day 1)

Finally, I am so bored until I have the time to edit some of my Cambodia Trip photos. Yes, I took a total of 1771 pics for the whole. (Crazy, isn't). Anyway, to the honest, I was blown away by the beautiful temples in Siem Reap. Even though most people would only remember Angkor Wat, I still enjoy my visit to some of the smaller temples. In short, let's start my journey to Cambodia Day 1. (BTW, did you know that Siem Reap means Siam Defeated?)

The day started hot@@ Yes, freakishly utterly hot even in Malaysia. Around 5.00 am, my sis and my housemate who kindly offered her help to show us the way to LCCT drove us there. Then, started our flight (me & kokleong only) to Cambodia. No comment to Airasia Service....since the tickets were from promotion~~~ But, no outside food on the flight and no free food on the flight><>
travel
When we reached there, there was our tuk-tuk waiting for us^^ by Mr.Baron. From the airport to the guesthouse, the distance was quite far. The guesthouse was situated quite remotely across the river. The name of the guesthouse was "Two Dragons Guesthouse ".....hmmm, quite a Chinese name...haha.

travel
This was our No.4 guest room. Since the environment was clean, I had no complains. Plus, they provided free drinking water every day (water is extremely important!) Therefore, before you go out, you can stock some mineral waters from Petrol Station or Supermarket or else you would have to suffer the expensive water near the tourist sites.

Anyhow, when we came out from our room, Mr. Baron was waiting us and since he was under the guesthouse, it was convenient for us to hire him about 15 US dollar per day!!!!!! (Note: I did not bargain; I know that I should have><) Then, we decided to go to the temple that located quite far away from Siem Reap - Banteay Srei. But, before that, we purchased a 3-day pass which worth about 40 US Dollar><(heartache)

travel
Yes, it took us nearly 1 hour and another extra 5 US dollar to reach this hidden temple - Banteay Srei. Anyway, it was totally protected since it was surrounded by rope. Plus, that time, I was wearing a sleeveless shirt (Yes, sunburn). Even though we did not have a tour guide, we really had fun doing what we wanted to. Hahaha!!! Taking photos crazily~~~

On our way back, we were conned by the locals near the Banteay Srei Temple...Yup, as a wise consumer, I was influenced by the hot weather into buying some T-shirt half more expensive. Therefore, my advice is "Don't buy in Banteay Srei, even Angkor Wat is cheaper!"...haha, anyhow, it was a good lesson for beginner traveller like me and kokleong.

travel
Before proceeding to the next temple, we stopped by at the Land Mine Museum with the admission of 2 US Dollar. But, it was for the good of the land mine victims! I was astonished to see tonnes of weaponry being displayed there - machine guns, landmines, bombs, more guns.... It was quite a sad view because so many people suffered from war.

travel
Then, we visited Banteay Sambre which was one of my favourite temples!!!! We even saw a couple taking wedding photos there...I salute them---it was about 40 degree celsius hot! We took pics like mad dog!@@ Hahaha, the heat was getting to us. Anyway, as the future-to-be-renowned-commercial-semi-professional-fashion photographer, I helped kokleong to take some very nice photos^^

Of course, there was also my photo taken by kokleong!!! Hahaha, finally blogging for more than a year, I am going to reveal my true face here!!! nope, just my back^^
travel

After that, it was time to move on to another temple- Pre Rup! Hot weather, sweating profusely, feeling dizzy.....it was the scenario during the evening. But, we insisted on visiting this temple. Yet, my persistence caused me to accidentally sprain my right leg! Yes, what luck! I sprained my leg on the 1st day><>
travel

Then, we called a day off. Going back to the guesthouse tired and exhausted, it was definitely not a good feeling. Later that day, we decided to walk our to town. Yes, despite my injury, I still walked my way to the Central Town. While wandering around aimlessly and seeking for a restaurant, we eventually ended at Bar Street!!!!
travel
After searching for the right restaurant, we decided to walk in to this restaurant. Haha, then, we ordered 2 draft beer which also cost us 0.50 US Dollar each and " Pineapple Fish Dish". Before finishing half of the beer, I was basically drunk because I was feeling a little bit "high" and dizzy...haha...and then, we were lost in the streets of Siem Reap! It was nerve-wracking to find our way back, but Kokleong's drunkishness just made my day!!!!( EVEN THOUGH HE INSISTED THAT HE WAS NOT DRUNK^^)

This was what happend on Day 1 of my Siem Trip~~~~~~ More exciting news coming up ---

Discovering Celestial Winner

Oh my, I have been in pain these days after Starwalk 2009 in Ipoh. This is mainly due to the lack of exercise in my life and now, I am facing the consequences - Legs pain, joints sore, and etc! Recently, I just dug up some of my stuffs. To my surprise, I found some interesting prizes that I had won quite some time ago.

If you notice the title - " Discovering Celestial Winner", it is mainly about the competitions from Discovery Channel and Tianying Channel. It had been a long time since I had won anything - yup, maybe, I was too busy until no time to join any contest. But, this is going to change. Let's look at the prizes!

Celestial Winning(^^)
winning,winning

Even though they were consolation prizes, I had to admit that they were very cute!!!!

Discovery Winning(^^)
As for the Discovery Winning, I received a parcel containing this big-eco-friendly beg! Well, at first, I thought it was another small prize. But, I had won Grand Prize for this contest!!!!
winning

Cute beg! I can throw all my things inside it^^

But, before that, I had to clear the stuffs inside! Yes, inside the green beg, there were an emergency kits and a book by Bear Grylls entitled "Man Versus Wild"
winning
Apparently, this prize is for me to survive in the wild nature! Oh well, I don't think that I am going to hunt in the jungle or whatever! But, it is still nice! Maybe, I can use it for a trip to Cambodia next time?! ahaha^^

Currently - busy holidaying, facebooking, eating, sleeping, catching HK, JP dramas^^

Man's Best Invention - Bread (^^)

After a tiring 4 nights and 5 days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, I finally came back and rested for 3 days. However, I still feel very tired and my body is still in little pain due to the extreme sunburn. Plus, I was so clumsy when I was in Cambodia. Well, I sprained my right leg on the 1st day( So unlucky!!!) To make the matter worse, I sprained my left leg on the last day!!! Anyway, it was kinda like I was being cursed or something. Suffering injuries from head to toe was minor! I actually kept on climbing the steepest temples, walking on the largest ruins, and just having a lot of fun. To my surprise, I took over 1500 pics from this trip(to be exact, 1771 pics.) That's why 6 Gb of memory cards were not sufficient. Before I sort out all the pics, please bare with me for some old news. (^^)

Bread
I can't really life without certain food. One of them is bread. This is by far one of the most economic food there is when we are really in bad financial situation.(Hahaha, and white bread is the popular 1 for this case).More history (here) Anyway, on 5 March 2009(Yup, a long time ago), my uni organised a trip to Gardenia Factory - one of the largest bread company in Malaysia.
visit
We received a warm welcome from Gardenia. Anyway, then, we all headed to the conference room for further explanation on the history, process, and distribution on bread.

Finally, we went to the factory area to witness by our own eyes on how loaves of bread are being processed. (Too bad, cameras were prohibited). But, the wall had the pictures of the equipment being used. Of course, I did not miss the chance to snap them down!
visit

visit
To me, the most impressive equipment in the factory was the cooling tower!!!! It was so cool! The breads were being rotated to the top of the tower to cool down before being further processed.

visit
The highlight of the day was indeed the goodies begs from Gardenia. They were so generous!!! You can the models were not really acting! It was true!(^^)

visit
Yup, I had been sponsored by Gardenia for 1 week!!!! Hahaha

Broga Hill and Temple Expedition - The Hidden Jewel

Busy, busy, & busy. Even though I am in my holidays, I still have a lot of things on my mind. So many things are happening simultaneously. Currently, I am in the midst of packing my luggage to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Yup, I am feeling the adrenaline and the anxiety at the same time. This is all because I have not been on a trip for ages. Plus, this trip is some sort like a mini-beg-packing trip. Wish me have lots of fun(^^).......

Now, back to the story of after final examination. If you have read my previous, you would know that I had a crazy time for the 3 birthdays, 3 movies and 1 unforgettable experience. Then, just like that, time flew like the speed of light - it was 3.00am. After that, I went to stay a night at Lai's place. Hahaha, I felt so bad because I came to their place so late. Then, after 2 hours of nap, at around 5.30am, we went to conquer a little hill ....hahahaha....The BROGA HILL!!!!! or 茅草山!!!!

hill climbing
May I say that it was pitch-black when we reached there. Therefore, A BIG REMINDER for people who hike the hill in the morning - Remember To Bring Torch Light!!!! Holes were everywhere!!!

hill climbing
Actually, it was quite an ease to climb the hill. However, there were so dangerous slope that slowed us down. Overall, we took 45 minutes to reach the 1st top; then, plus 10 mins to reach the 2nd top. But, we did not went for the 3rd top though. The sunrise was actually quite nice! Thanks to my technique, I was able to capture that moment. However, the pictures turned out to be quite dim. Still, the warm sun was truly beautiful!

hill climbing
Then, it was time to leave. Obviously, going down was easier than going up! It took less than 30 mins to reach shuxin's car. We were exhausted to the max and then, we had breakfast in town.

hill climbing
Of course, we really did not know how or when to stop. Therefore, we went to a famous temple in Broga. It could be considered as a traditional Chinese temple that portraits the beauty of Chinese culture. Therefore, this temple is a must visit landmark in Broga!

hill climbing
As the "future-to-be-world-renowned-fashion-artistic-commercial photographer again, I was snapping pictures non-stop. This was one of my favourite - Pagoda with A Pineapple.

hill climbing
Then, the final attraction was the "十二生肖" or the twelve zodiac animals. (Translation???Not sure). These twelve animals represent not only a person's birthday, it might also determines the fate of a person for Chinese. Believe it or not, this is your choice(^^)......

Lastly, a big thank to the models of the day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw, the author will be away starting from tomorrow!!!!
Cambodia, Here I come!!!

3 Birthdays, 3 Movies and 1 Unforgettable Experience

I still remembered the good old days which everything would just come together. It was busy, but satisfyingly enjoyable and unforgettable. Well, because right now, I am gonna share with you all 3 birthdays, 3 movies and 1 unforgettable experience. (Yes, birthday gals, this post is for you; I know that you all have been waiting)

Elaine Birthday At Pizza Hut, Kajang
elaine bday
Just right after our second last paper - Heat & Mass transfer, we whole gang went to unwind ourselves. However, little did Miss Elaine know that , we were planning a surprise early celebration for her. Hahaha, as the "future-to-be-world-renowned-fashion-artistic-commercial photographer, I was able to catch the true moment! Elaine was really happy that day!!!!

Amirah Birthday At Kapas Hall Kitchen, UNMC
amirah bday
Yes, we just finished our last paper. Actually, we already planned a surprise for for her. But, since it was like a huge release from the exams and works, everybody went to relax to one of popular places in KL - MIDVALLEY. Therefore, we had to wait for her to return to the uni first.(Since we were also at Midvalley). Hahaha, then, it was surprise for her(^^) at 2.30 am in the morning.

Lih Chi Birthday At Basketball Court, UNMC
lichi bday
Then, on the same day, before Amirah's Birthday, we were enjoying the freedom from the uni. Haha, we went to sing K - - - - Dinner at Kaki Corner - - - - Movie at Midvalley - - - - Birthday at Basketball Court - - - - Birthday at Kitchen. Omg, it was crazy to do everything in a single day. Again, it was satisfyingly exciting!

Angels and Demons
angel and demonangel and demon

It had nothing to do with Da Vinci Code The Movie(thankgoodness). Well, the previous movie was not that adventurous and the graphic was more than plain. Anyway,Angels and Demons actually exceeded my expectation as a non-related sequel. Everything was planned by a man who thought that what he did was for mankind. What I love about the movie was its element of surprise. It was so twisted and so intrigued to follow the pace of the movie. The actors were fine; but the priest played by Evan Mcgregor was a little bit fake. Personally, he could not convince me that he was a priest. The studyline was terrific; however, with only 1 killer/hitman and a priest, they can plan the whole agenda. It was a little bit not logical. Overall, this is quite a movie.

Actors : 3/5
Story : 4/5
Visual : 4.5/5

Star Trek
star trek

This by far, is my favourite movie of this few months? Haha, the storyline was superb with the theme of future and past. What we did in the past would affect our future! Of course, since it was a classic on the television, I expected it to be good. But, it was great! Chris Pine was the bad boy in the movie while Zachary/Sylar was the over-analytic Vulcan - Spock. Apart from that, one of the most surprising scene was Winona Ryder played the role of Spock's mother. I am her fan-cy woh....[here] . Then, there was the original Spock in the tv show played the future Spock. HAHAHA! The dialouge was quite funny.....

Why did you married mother?
Because it was logical?!

Actors : 4.5/5
Story : 4/5
Visual : 4.5/5

Terminator Salvation
terminator salvation

It was the fourth installment of Terminator. It was not a disappointment; but, it did not really impact me like the previous movies. If you all remembered, I did a post on the Terminator Series to terminate insomnia[here]. I think that I expect too much from Terminator Salvation since Terminator 2 was superb. The cast was actually quite nice! But, the story? It was kinda bored! It did not have the depth like the previous movies, except for extreme-action and fireworks!
  • Terminator 1 - The Excitement Began
  • Terminator 2: The Judgement Day - The Climax
  • Terminator 3: The Rise of Machine - The Downfall
  • Terminator 4: Salvation - The Bottom?

Actors : 4/5
Story : 2.5/5
Visual : 4/5

After all this, I was still determined to conquer Broga Hill! Therefore, stay tune for Broga Hill and The Temple!!!! Overall, I had a crazy time after my finals. Yes, now, I am resting at home and planning my trip to Cambodia - Siem Reap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yellow Hearts For The Need

After a horrific journey from KL to Ipoh, I finally survived the road trip. Well, I woke up around 7.30am and tried to get to KL Central from Serdang before 9am. But, it took me almost an hour to reach there. Then, I missed the train to Ipoh. Then, I changed to Plan B - took bus instead. Anyway, KTM wasted everybody time!!!!

Anyway, right after I reached home, I had my lunch and met up my old friends at Ipoh Parade. Omg, it had been quite some time we met up! We did not really change that much, except

  • Ziyang-Hmmm, 1 word - facial
  • kahjoon - more tanned
  • joonheng - still the same
  • kahfei - also the same
  • kokleong - he needs to exercise
Hahaha, really missed them! Some of them are leaving the country to further their studies overseas. Again, I wish them all the best with my heart! We shall be friend forever; keep in touch!!!!
