Chinese New Year Lantern That Shines Up My House.

Photobucket
The picture above shows how the lanterns are being assembled. Oooo, red, red, red!!!!

I have rested enough since undergoing one of the worst moment in my life. Anyway, I had a second date with my friend.(My Birthday). Therefore, I was not really resting because we even went out to Yuk Choy Primary School to watch the Chap Goh Mei Event. Well, that night was really chaotic - there were fireworks, protests, and lucky-draw.....Haha, to be continued in the next post!

Anyway, here are some beautiful moments from my Chinese New Year 2009 - The lanterns that shines up my house.

The different views of the lanterns in different time and space!

My favourite view of the lanterns when they are lit up at night!

This Chinese New Year was really enjoyable. I met a lot of old friends and relatives. They really changed a lot. Well, all my nieces and nephews grew so tall, just like real supermodel.

Curtain Fantasy!

Yes, finally, the 3rd promised post in previous Post (PPIPP). hahaha(^^)

  • Moon Cake Feast
  • Dragon-i Inn
  • Best Buy Selection
  • Artwork-Curtain Dyeing

Well, since I was moving to a rented house, I really needed some accessories for the house and curtains were definitely a must! However, my mum and I were planning to save as much as we could. Our first plan was to buy some cheap clothes to sew a set of curtains for the sliding door.{Thanks, mum} However, my mum realized that there were still some old curtains hiding underneath the shelf. So, our plan changed to renewing the old curtain by dyeing them!

Firstly, let's talk about the ingredients!
ingredient3ingredient
ingredient2

List: A pile of old clothes, An empty oil tank for boiling curry water, A long wooden stick for stirring the boiled water, gas tank(^^) or woods and the Golden-Colour Dye!

{Yup, the ingredients were that simple. You and your mum, dad, brothers, sister, grandparents, friends, children....anyone can do this at home! However , please be careful with and boiled water and fire hazard!}

Okay, since I am quite busy these days, I will be very efficient in presenting the few easy steps to create an amazing curtain for your rooms, living rooms, just anywhere(^^).

  • Step 1: Prepare all the ingredients above.{Note: Choose the dye that you like, but, remember to check whether your clothes are suitable for dyeing or not}
  • Step 2: Please clean the oil tank and fill it with an adequate amount of water for dyeing colour
  • Step 3: When the water is boiled, faster put in colour dye which depends on the intensity of the colour that you want.
step1

  • Step 4: Remember to stir the mixture non-stop.
  • Step 5: When the colour dye is well-mixed, add in some salts to prevent discolouration in the end.
  • Step 6: Stir the mixture well again and turn off the gas when it is ready.
step2

  • Step 7 : Do not straight away put the curtains inside, but wait for a few minutes.
  • Step 8: Put the curtains inside the oil tank and stir well again.
  • Step 9: After that, leave the curtains inside the tank for around 20 minutes.
step4

  • Step 10: Then, rinse the curtains in clean water until there is no more discolouration formed in the water.
  • Step 11: Lastly, dry them under the beautiful bright sun. After that, just hang them anywhere you want! Your place will definitely be lit up(^^)

Finally, the final look on the sliding door!

From dirty and old white curtain, me and my mum had transformed them into new and classical curtains.

Well, when you can still reuse something, don't throw them away because they might end up becoming something really gorgeous. Anyway, besides having a great family moment with my mum, I also have the chance to recycle my curtains and made an art out of this.Isn't this green!(^^). My advice : Before you buy, please always check whether you need the items or not! I am proud to say that I am a green consumer!

8/8/2008 -- Beijing 2008 Olympic Games starts...

Photobucket

Today is finally arrived. A day of global celebration. A day of historic moment for everyone. A day of people await for a long time. Yes, today is none other than Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony Day. Most probably, most people are glued in front of the television to watch the opening ceremony. Personally, I am very excited of the fireworks because usually that is the climax of the event.

8/8/2008 at 8pm tonight, will be a night to remember. As you can see, there are a lot of eights in the date and the time. In Chinese Culture, no. 8 is a prosperous number, which also represents wealth and fortune. Oooo, I also like the no.8 too.(^ ^). Obviously, the highlight of the night is also the extremely famous Stadium in Beijing-------Bird Nest(Actually, the bird nest reminds me of a famous and expensive delicacy, 燕窝 a.k.a bird nest) . When all the fireworks are released, I bet the ceremony will be very majestic and breathtaking.

Apart from this, the mascots of Beijing Olympic Games also captivates people around the globe. With five cute and adorable mascots, they symbolize the culture and the tradition of China. Okey, it is time to let them come into the pictures.They are the FUWA(福娃).

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Haha, are you all envy of me now? I have a collection of them - key chains and even Chinese famous knots(I think so).

Now, they will be introduced briefly.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

From left to right:
  1. Beibei (fish) -symbolizes prosperity and harvest {blue Olympic ring }
  2. Jingjing (panda) -symbolizes blessing of happiness, harmony between human and nature { black Olympic ring}
  3. Huanhuan(Olympic Flame) -symbolizes passion, especially in sports{red Olympic ring}
  4. Yingying(Tibetan Antelope) -symbolizes the vastness of China's landscape, the blessing of health and the strength of the body results from harmony between human and nature{ yellow Olympic ring}
  5. Nini (Swallow) -symbolizes the infinite sky and the spread of good luck when she opens her wings {green Olympic ring}
[Adapted from the "The Official Website of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games"] click here for more info.

Furthermore, the sports games will also be very exciting as well. Which country will top the ranking? Is it China?or, is it going to be America or even Russia? Omg, I really can't wait for the results.

Hopefully, Malaysia Atletes will do Malaysia proud too. Go and snatch as many medals they can. Prove to the world that Malaysia Boleh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Therefore, tonight, don't forget to tune in for the opening ceremony!!!!

Self Room-improvement (1)

Changing is good(not including changing gf and bf frequently). Well, in life, sometimes, changing is necessary. So, to keep my life in virtual and to make life more interesting, occasionally, I have some crazy ideas to renovate my room. Therefore, I change the arrangement of my room about 2 times in a year. This is partially looking for something to fill up my time and partially, relocate a new and fresh Fengshui spot in my room.Ok, call me superstitious or anything. In this time, I found myself very hard to fall asleep. So, I decided to change again for the sake of room-improvement and for myself. In this post, I will divide it into a few parts.

Today, the first part is to plan the arrangement of furniture and to plan special feature in the room. First thing is to draw out the plan of the room. It is extremely crucial because as an experienced-arranger, I found myself finding a hard to relocate all the furniture in a limited space. So, we must have a plan before we start a plan. (Wow, so cliche!)

Just get a blank paper, and draw your room's dimension. Well, I used the old paper from my primary exercise book.(The second sentence is for promoting environmental-friendliness, go green together.)

After this, all the furniture that are wanted to be included in the room, have to be drawn and cut out in a smaller ratio. This is for the convenience to plan the arrangement of the furniture.

Again, I used unused paper. Haha, I even labeled the furniture's names on the paper.

Later, the fun begins. Well, you can arrange your furniture as you like. Therefore, I come up with a few arrangements. Some are practical but not stylish, other are just nice but difficult to execute.

Originally, this is the arrangement of my room right now.

This is the first plan. Well, I really like my bed by the window side.

The second plan is that the bed is placed opposite the door. I don't like this arrangement personally. Oh well, it is still a choice

Lastly, this is my third plan. Well, almost like the no.1, but slight different.

Finally, a choice has to be made. Therefore, I have chosen No.3 because this is what I want. Even though the design was a bit wasting space, I love it. In other words, this is your own self room-improvement. You can do anything you want.

NOW, IT IS TIME TO MAKE MY DREAM COME TRUE.

Self Room-improvement (1) THE END
