A Farewell at Kinta Riverfront Ipoh

I was digging up my photos. Omg, look what I found! Some photos I forgot to share with you all! Exactly 1 year ago, we had a small farewell for a friend who was leaving to Canada again! Don't laugh! Before I GOT THE CHANCE TO POST, he already returned from Canada this year (2011)....@@ Yup, how ironic! So, just assume that we farewell him this year!...hahahaha, by the way, this post was a continual from here - The Return of Perak Cave dated 5/12/2010.....(@@) hv to sweat myself.......

Photobucket

Hope that he is not mad! But, I already uploaded on my facebook, just din share the story here. Oh well, so, my fussy Canadian friend read the newspaper and said that he wanted to try this place - Kinta Riverfront. To my surprise, the atmosphere there was quite nice! By the riverside, it was so soothing and relaxing! and they were trying to pose some ghostly photos...hahahahah~

Photobucket

But, don't be so happy 1st! The food there was crazily EXPENSIVE! From the pics above, my friend's hand is and was larger than the plate! Oh yes!!!! Guess how much? RM 7.00 per plate, they didn't even serve us rice! The coco drink was still ok only. I think we ordered the wrong dishes already, should not try Indian food over there, the portion was so small~~But, the grill bar might oso end up to be the same..Oh well,  the only thing nice there was the environment.

NOTE: It was already a year ago~~~If there are any misconceptual of this post, please correct me! Perhaps they improved their service already? If you have been visiting the same place, remember to tell me , ok ? thanks~~~

Photobucket

Despite all that, we had fun! That's what friend are for~~~ For FUN(^^) ~~And, the bridge there was pretty nice! I guess it will become a great landmark in Ipoh, if preservation of the area is well-maintained! It is great to see that Ipoh is finally moving!!!~~~

The Return of Perak Cave Temple@Ipoh - 霹靂洞的回歸!

It is time to give my readers some real blogging posts! OH YES! After slacking for so long, off with the movie posts. This time, I am gonna promote Perak Caves@ Ipoh. It is also known as 霹雳洞。Actually, this famous cave was closed down for about a year due to this incident (here).Therefore, it only reopened this year 2010!  (WARNING: REALLY A LOT PHOTOS - LOADING WILL TAKE SOME TIME, PLZ BE PATIENT BECOZ A LOT NICE PHOTOS(^^))

As Ipoh-rian, I had been there a few times. Actually, I went there when I was really small. I still remembered that time I was really timid and afraid to climb the stairs. As for my cousins and siblings, they were fearlessly running up and down. So, I was like a little prince back then as my aunts and parents took turn to carry me up the mountain(^^)~!~~~Anyway, those were the good old days.

Coming to the future, this time, I went along with my besties  - Kokleong and Kaheng. Yes, since Mr. KL stayed at home during his summer break, it was ashamed to not go out and explore Ipoh. Therefore, I picked this particular cave because it was ngam ngam reopened.

Perak Cave

The entrance and the surrounding of Perak Cave Temple. It really incorporated the true essence of Chinese-style architecture in its premises. I really fell in love with this temple again and again.

Perak Cave

Walking inside towards the cave temple, there were a lot of wall-paintings, mostly on the Gods and Goddesses of Chinese Odyssey. Of course, the statues of Buddha was also stunning, poising in the temple.

Perak Cave

What is so unique about Perak Caves is that there are a lot of small little passages that lead you to the same place. Oh yeah, it is really like a little labyrinth there. So, as explorers, we ventured to the behind part of the temple which has the staircase up to the top of the mountain. After walking for roughly 10 - 20 minutes, we reached the upper part of the mountain.

Photobucket

At the upper part, it was like another realm with a small temple there. Yes, really special. On our way, the little visitors - monkeys were following us. Our lovely friend, Kaheng was really afraid of the monkey. Hmmm, anyway, only me and KL continued to the top even tough little raindrops started to pour down!

peak of perak cave

Omg, the panoramic view up there was superb! It was really breathtaking . However, may I warn you all there, the track up there was really steep! Therefore, you all might be extra careful. If raining, not advisable to climb the stairs and also around 4 or 4.30pm, visitors are prohibited to climb the stairs. Therefore, be early a bit^^.

The Beginning and The End of Internship

I am working at the top of the mountain(^^). The little safety that i wore for 3 months(^^). The cute smiley face(^^).  The mountain that is almost can be reached by my hands(^^). A lot of monkeys here, trust me(^^) My lovely pc with Windows ME(^^)

The last day of my internship was on 30 August 2010, the day before Merdeka Celebration of Malaysia. Yes, after about 5 weeks "losing" my job, I finally have something to say! It is a final closure of my internship after doing the logbooks, 2 presentations, and the tedious industrial training report!

It was the first time I am exposed to the real working environment in a plant.  Not to reveal too much of my company, what I can say it that it is a company that produces or refines some of the everyday products we use or eat~ Yup, that's all!~

The Beginning
I was rather clueless of what my job scope was. But, as time goes by, I was assigned to several projects like initiation of waste-water treatment plant. Therefore, my job was to read and propose. But, it was still a bit "misty" for me! My head was spinning and full of questions! Then, just like that, everything just went on and I gained a lot!

Lesson Learned:
  • A lot of interesting technical processing knowledge
  • People skills?
  • How to spend time wisely(^^)~~

The End
After spending 3 months there, it woke me up! It showed me how tiny I was in the industry! What I am learning from Uni is actually lacking! I was actually not helping there! For the 1st time, I think of myself being a bit useless there. But, thanks to the people there, my supervisor, engineers and also other personnel, they show me how to work, how to speak, how to think! I admitted that I am rather weak in my technical skills. Haiz, yet, I was gaining a lot of exposure in processing and waste-water related theories.

Lesson Learned:
  • It actually show me in which aspect I am more prone to ~~
  • It directs my path to the future!
Of course, working ain;t easy! But, I really saw a lot(^^)~~Thanks every1 for helping out during my internship!

Bon Odori Ipoh 2010 盆踊り~

はい。前週の土曜日は 盆踊りでした。友達と Meru Valleyへ 行きました!
Yes, last week Saturday was Bon-Odori! Together with my friend, we went to Meru Valley. After absent for 6 years, Bon Odori Ipoh 2010 finally came back! However, the venue was too secluded! It took me about 1 hour to reach there!

Anyway, with 3 of my friends, we had high expectations for the festival. Yet, to our dismay, what we saw was over-commercialised event! Reasons:
  1. There were no decoration at all. No even a lantern! Couldn't even spot a Japanese hiragana! There were 3 huge white tents with a lot of people inside. No Balloons too~~~
  2. There were not enough Japanese. You tell me! Is Yong taufu? Cendol? Kuey Teow? Are those the famous Japanese cuisine?!!!!!
  3. The venue was too small. Initially, the printed posted stated that it was held at the tennis court! Yet, when we reached there, the tennis court was empty! We were forced to squeeze inside the crowd!
Further comments? I am too lazy to do that! I am also lazy to edit those photos~ Nothing nice to capture! Anyway, still show you all some photos!~~ Ooo, before that, I heard some rumours about the event. Insider story here: According to someone who wants to remain anonymous:

"The event was organised by Perak Japanese Friendship Society. However, it was Meru Valley Resort who organised all the settings and foods. IE, the stage was supposed to be higher and bigger. At the end, it was truly small. There was hardly any Japanese cuisine in sight, only local food provided by Meru Valley. "
This was what insider said! However, I think that both parties were responsible for the downfall of Bon Odori Ipoh. As the main organiser, Japanese Friendship Society had to be very strict and firm with the standard instead of pointing fingers to Meru Valley.

Photos time:

Yup, sad, right!? A mega event with so less to capture!~~~

A Glance Back To Japanese Garden Ipoh

Oh my, I just finished packing my stuffs, not much though. It finally arrived - The Start of My New Semester. I am leaving tomorrow and quite a number of my friends are leaving this weekend. I am pretty sure that I would stuck in a chaotic traffic jam and human jam all at once(><). Anyway, 4 months of relaxation, boredom, and last minute busy-ness, I am ready to go back and my friends, may I warn you, I look chubbier than ever!!!![In short, I am fat] Prepare for my huge return! So, as I had said earlier, mixture feelings are unavoidable - happy, nervous, nostalgic, ..... Oh well, life goes on and like most people, when we are out there, home is the light that drives us to the top(^^)~~~~

Okay, recently, I was scanning some old photos of my mom and dad's. Yup, during their younger days, just like the teenagers now, they like to take pictures(^^). and I am the one who have to scan all their photos which most of them are older than me into the PC. Omg, the scanner is ultra slow! It took me about 2 - 3 hours to scan a whole album~~~(@@)..... Then, when we were looking back at those photos, my mom said that when she was young, she would go to Ipoh along with her friends to Japanese Garden Ipoh and then, they would visit the famous Octagon Building [八角楼] for meals. Well, until now, the Japanese Garden is still here yet lack of care and preservation where as Octagon Building was demolished a long time ago. and its land is used as a parking space(What a waste!). However, according to the newspaper, Ipoh is considering rebuilding this once famous building into a tourist landmark.(Hope this comes true)

Yes, this is the old Octagon Building... Back then, they said that it was a liability to the safety of the citizens. Therefore, it was knocked down.[Original Link]

Now, a glance back to Japanese Garden Ipoh. Well, I am quite sure that not many Ipoh-rians nowadays go to the Japanese Garden Ipoh. [More info on its location] Even my mum who used to go there, haven't visited this place for ages. Well, I am a curious person! I want to witness the once-famous Japanese Garden Ipoh.....

visit,landmark,ipoh,perak
Yes, this is the Japanese Garden Ipoh or Taman Jepun Ipoh or イポーの日本庭園 or 怡保日本花园。。。。。(Haha, I just stopped my Japanese Language class. I miss it already!) Well, according to my mum , the arrangement of the garden was still the same. Yet, it was not as nice as it used to be.

visit,landmark,ipoh,perak
I know! The water is very green! But, the koi fish inside the pond manage to survive(@@). To be honest, they really need to take care of it~~~

ipoh,perak
This is the one garden that lacks flowers too~~~ My house really has more flowers than this garden ooo~~~haha, plus, if you look closely, some of the alphabets were even gone...and, behind the stone light was the super main road! That's why it was really noisy there until I can't hear myself talking! Plant some bamboo will do~~~

photo,flowers
It would be an amazing garden if the rich owner take care of it! The opening hours are also very weird. During weekdays, it only opens from 5pm. {so late} while weekends, they open it earlier.

Anyway, it is just a glance back to Japanese Garden Ipoh before I leave. KL, here I come! After staying there for 2 years, I am used to the traffic jams and always delay KTM...Cross-finger....tomorrow no jam and no delays...which is highly impossible!

It was the second time that I had a feast at Good Times a.k.a 碳世界 in Ipoh。 I still remembered that 1st time, I went with Kah Heng, Kok Leong as a farewell for Kok Leong who was leaving to Canada. Oh gosh, already a year had passed. Time flew without mercy(><). This time, I went out with Kokleong who was back and Ziyang since Ziyang was leaving to America. The Simplicity of Sin Hup Kee

food and wine
Omg, I know that you all might think: "Another foodie post?!". Haha, it is really almost an unofficial turning into foodie blog. Just bear with me, because more foodie posts are coming up^^. What to do?! Holiday, not working, the only thing that I can do is to eat!!!!>< style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 102, 0);">Sin Hup Kee Restaurant [新合記飯店]. My family is really a regular customer of this restaurant! We are really a big fan of their dishes. Reasons: reasonable Cheap, delicious, and just simple! That's why today my post's title is The Simplicity of Sin Hup Kee. I think Ipoh-rians would be quite familiar with this restaurant (^^). If you want to experience a meal of family-like and simple taste of dishes, then you come to the right restaurant.

Below are our family personal preference. No matter how many times we go there, we would end up ordering the same dishes again and again and again and again ...infinity~~~haha
food and wine
The 1st dish that my dad would order would be this "baby" : Their Star Dish[招牌菜] : Dry-Fried Chicken or 干煎鸡[omg, the direct translation=.=!] No doubt, this dish is our favourite!!!

food and wine
Then, the next order would be this dish - Three-type Yolks Steam-egg or 三皇蛋 [something like that, I am not sure both Chinese and English@@]Another favourite!!!

food and wine
Then, we also would not forget this dish as well - longbeans with eggplants (^^). The dishes would be our basic 3-dishes lunch or dinner. However , if we have more companies, we would add our menu too!!!!

food and wine
Their Curry Fish Head is also quite famous!!![not as famous as Dry-Fried Chicken]hahahaha

food and wine
A simple vegetable would be suitable for all (^^)

If you have the chance to come down to Ipoh Perak, just find time to go to this restaurant and have a try. Who knows! You might fall in love with the Simplicity of Sin Hup Kee just like my family. One thing for sure, be sure to book table on peak days like special occasions(^^)

Now, enjoy your share of home-cooked meal visually lah;p

A Walk To See The Stars

Since I can't sleep right now, I think I better don't waste time and start to update my blog^^. A month ago after returning from Cambodia, pain was actually all over my body. But, I still wanted to join Ipoh Starwalk 2009! Yes, it had 2 years since I stopped joining the contest. Back then, my friends and I were obsessed with certs, certs, certs.....

Anyway, early morning.....
event
When I reached there, it was crowded! or should I say "flooded" with humans!!!! It was still dark that time! Therefore, I got a snap of the alien-like lamp post^^ I like~~~

Then, after hours of waiting, ....
event
When the walk was started, the situation was rather chaotic! People, people, and people everywhere@@. From there, you can see lovely father and son, stylish walkers, and the cool-green odder. Haha, it was rather interesting to see these scenes.

Then, within 100 mins, I reached the finish line....
event
My achievement was quite disappointing! I used to walk quite fast! Now, I have become a pre-mature old man who lost to a real old man........Anyway, of course, I joined the mini carnival after walking with the stars. Like any normal events, performances, food, drinks...and my favourite - Lucky Draw(^^) Well, the mc uncle really annoyed me! It took around 3 hours to finish the lucky draw and I did not win anything ><.....Yalor, that uncle talked too much....

Anyway, this is the 1st time I felt not so excited about events. Maybe, I am already bored of walking so long and not winning anything. Oh well, I think I might retire from Starwalk .......

Chinese New Year Lantern That Shines Up My House.

Photobucket
The picture above shows how the lanterns are being assembled. Oooo, red, red, red!!!!

I have rested enough since undergoing one of the worst moment in my life. Anyway, I had a second date with my friend.(My Birthday). Therefore, I was not really resting because we even went out to Yuk Choy Primary School to watch the Chap Goh Mei Event. Well, that night was really chaotic - there were fireworks, protests, and lucky-draw.....Haha, to be continued in the next post!

Anyway, here are some beautiful moments from my Chinese New Year 2009 - The lanterns that shines up my house.

Photobucket
The different views of the lanterns in different time and space!

Photobucket
My favourite view of the lanterns when they are lit up at night!

This Chinese New Year was really enjoyable. I met a lot of old friends and relatives. They really changed a lot. Well, all my nieces and nephews grew so tall, just like real supermodel.

Let's Me Rest In Peace

I am not dying and this is not funny because I had the worst day of coming back to my hometown - Ipoh. Well, I reached the terminal bus around 2.30pm and I waited until 5.30pm before I could board the bus. I reached Ipoh around 8 p.m.

In total, it took me nearly 8 hours to reach Ipoh!! Yup, I felt like taking a flight from Australia to Ipoh!

Then, today, I went to have a haircut. Omg, I had another worst day there. Well, apparently, the polices were having road block! Haiz, I had to go through a horrific traffic jam!!!!! Then, when I went back, I took another 30 mins to reach home. 5 mins become 30mins (x6).........

What happened to Ipoh?

  1. P.S: The Author will take days off from his blog to really rest in peace. Therefore, please leave comments or footprints when you pass by.
  2. P.S: My Little World will be spinning - Well, the Earth would not stop spinning because of me.
  3. P.S: He will be working hard this few days to finish some work and foster a better relationship with man's best friends!

Back To My Hometown!

Finally, I went back to my hometown. Ooo, actually, I have to admit that I am a little bit childish and stubborn. Well, I can go back during Deepavali. . . . (Happy Belated Deepavali To Everybody).

But, right now, I am just back to my beautiful hometown - Ipoh! (^^)

P.S: A big thanks to Lik Yin (A guy) who gave me a ride to the ktm station.
P.S: So sorry for posting this short. But, will give a great post next time(^^)
P.S: I made a tag for short post(^^)

I am very ashamed{I was lost in small Ipoh Town}

Haiz, I have to say that today was just not my day. Well, in short, I was totally unlucky. It all started with my decision to fix my tooth and do scaling. My tooth had been bugging me for quite some time. It was excruciating to eat peanuts(my favourite) and ice-cream. So, today was the day to solve my tooth pain.

Well, when my mum sent me to the clinic at about 9.45 a.m., I was the 19th person already{Omg, the clinic opened only about 9 a.m.} At that time, there were about 13 person ahead of me. I was very sure that it would be a horrible long wait. After half an hour, I decided to do something else.

I was going to have a new hair cut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, because the salon was near by, I just walked there. Just after minutes of arriving, they already sent a pretty girl to style my hair. Well, I could not compare this to the clinic because there were only a dentist. Before this, my hair was long, dark, smooth, and strong as if I had techique rebonding. Haha, then, why do I still want a new hair cut?

Here are the reasons:
  1. It made me look like girl! {Plus I admit that I am very soft and soft-spoken}
  2. I needed a change, something refreshing.
  3. I don't want to wait there stupidly for the dentist.

Anyway, this time, I preferred my hair very short. Then, next time, I would keep it very long and make it into lala style.{hehe, just thinking only}. After, about an hour of non-stop hair styling, I finally had my new, refreshing, and very short hairstyle. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wanna have a look?! This is my before and after!!!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Haha, sorry, guys and gals! I am still too shy to reveal my face{ Besides, I really sucks in camwhoring leh}

Okay, after that, I decided to go back to the clinic. Then, the epic began. I was totally lost as I could not find my way back to the clinic. Then, I called my mum for help:

Me : Mum, now, I am near the Bank Negara.
Mum: Haa, how did you get there? So far away.
Me : I don't know woh, I cin cai walk.
Mum: Are you sure that you are at Bank Negara. {I had a look at the signboard, before I could say anything} I think you are at Bank Simpanan.
Me : {Malu}hehe, I see wrongly.Then, how I go back there?
Mum:Aiyo, you better go to another clinic nearby.
Me : I don't want lah, I waited for so long. Now, I am at Kamdar.
Mum:Ooo, then, you look for Popular nearby and keep right.
Me :Okay, bye.

After that, I phoned my sister. She was also blurred by me. Hehe, sorry, now, I know that I am really a road idiot. Then, I was so like walking here and there until sweating like crazy. Finally, when I walked by one of the famous road, Coffin Road{whole street sells coffins}, I found my way.

Then, when I returned to the clinic, I waited for another 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg, I almost want to cry at the end of the day! Then, the doctor said that I might need to return for another session to do the fillings. Haizzzzz, at that time, I don't have more hair to cut already. and hopefully, I would not lost my way again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just feel very ashamed. {I am a Ipoh Boy who got lost in Ipoh} What a day!!!!!!(> <)

WHO SAYS I WASTED MY 3 MONTHS HOLIDAY!!!

Well, today or just now, I went back to my ex-secondary school - Sam Tet, Ipoh, along with Ziyang and Kokleong. Actually, Kokleong was about to leave Malaysia and continue his studies in Canada under JPA. So, just to accompany him(okay, I also want to visit the teachers), we went to meet some of our favourite teachers.

Anyway, when we went there, nothing seemed to change, except for the new faces. We really had a fun time there. However, the teachers were quite busy. But, we were able to catch up some gossips from them.{Hehe, one of our main objectives}. Well, we chatted with Miss Ong very long until she needed to attend the class.{Non-stop gossiping of our ex-classmates of Form 5}

After that, we just let ourselves out of the school compound and continued our chatting at Ipoh Parade which was just opposite the school. Again, non-stop chatting and gossiping were involved until our big brother, Mr. Ziyang was about to leave us again. {Haiz, he is always busy}. He left me and Kokleong. Well, then, we just talked about everything until Mr Kokleong talked about I did not do anything during my 3 months holiday.

Okay, firstly, I really need to explain a lot. I told him that well, I did practice hard for my piano test. Hehe, then, he said that I got 3 months to practice and I can practice every night. {Omg, the pieces were like very...very boring and difficult and the scale was like staccato and legato} If I had practiced every single day, I would have gone nuts!!!, also not to mention that my fingers will be swollen. Therefore, I practiced my pieces every 2 days after Miss Van advised not to over-practice otherwise, I would be very irritated to play my pieces when the exam is near. I practice modestly, without hating my pieces that much{You just can't over do something or else you will get sick of doing the same thing} Anyway, this was just a little issue that came up during our conversation. At the end, I knew that I did my best and my standard was not that high, passing will do for me.

Now, back to the unofficial farewell. Haiz, Kokleong will be leaving in these few days and spending 4 years in Canada. Hopefully, he will do well and all the best to him{ I must say this to him before he leaves---------- Remember to bring more food, food is very expensive due to currency exchange} Hahaha, plus, please contact your friends here, including me with MSN or Skype because phone, sms... are too expensive. Ohh, if you have time, you can write to me too!!!{But, it will take a while to get your letters}

Kokleong, if you read this post, I hope all the best to you and may you have a safe journey to Canada and enjoy your time there!!!!

Okay, after the little farewell, I think it is time for me to tell everybody about what I did during my holiday!!!!!!!!! Otherwise, most people will just have a very bad impression me like I am lazy, fat, Otaku, guy who only loves to waste his time in front of the tv and computer all day long.{ooo, I admit that I am partially an Otaku who loves anime, but, not really obsessed}.

Firstly, for my summer holiday, I did work for 1 month. What if I did not work? Does this make me a bad person or a useless fellow? I really want to work, but, there was no transportation for me unless I worked weekend, so, I did work as a telephone operator who conducted survey on the phone for a month. After that, due to the rise of petrol, it was not really worthy for me to drive that long distant to work. Moreover, that time, I was starting my piano lesson again. Then, during this period, I praticed piano and even took swimming lesson facing my 19 years of hydrophobia. Now, I am preparing for my course to start, I did read some notes and did some paper work. Okay, maybe my life is quite dull or lack of working days, but, after my graduation, my life will be all about working, so, why not I enjoy learning something new now! I even self-learned a little bit of French and Japanese. Please don't ever judge a person by his cover or holiday!!!!

Here is my list of "What I did for My Holiday":

  1. I worked as a telephone operator conducting survey on the phone.
  2. I learned and practiced my piano, and took my piano Grade 8 practical test.
  3. I battled my 19-year of hydrophobia, and now, I am able to swim all the 4 styles{breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly syle{still a beginner} in 2 months time}
  4. I joined a hell lot of contests until I won some limited merchandises. Here
  5. I applied for JPA scholarship, currently, waiting for their reply.{This scholarship is really worth a lot more than the money I will make in this 3 months}
  6. I blogged the whole time except during my piano test, in hope of meeting some new friends, sharing my thoughts, and making little money from it.
  7. I redecorated my room in a week time with a huge change.
  8. I started a IBLOG group for promoting blogging and promoting environmental-friendliness.
  9. I self-learned basic French and Japanese{Both still in amateur stage}
  10. I went green for the environment and went red for the blood-donation. {I felt quite happy doing all these charity work.}

Okay , these were all the stuffs I did during my holiday. Maybe, they seemed like small matters; however, to me , they meant a lot. Actually, I want to say is that this is my holiday, if I have worked all the time, I might miss the chance of doing some of the most meaningful things during my holiday. So, please don't judge me because I did not work throughout my holiday! and I did worked for 3 months in a row before {Well, I worked as a part time-blogger, hopefully, you all can support my ads{haiz, really need to show people that I really did something meaningful and blogging is one of them}}

Anyway, a big thanks to Kokleong for inspiring me to write this post. Hopefully, I can explain myself that I did something quite meaningful during holiday and I blog about it!{Omg, I sound so serious in this post! I hope that I did not sound too harsh, it was just an explanation to myself} Okay, after explaining myself, I think I need to take a rest! Off to swimming lesson!!! Bye bye for now(^^)
