Lost World, Another Adventure!

After the Kellie Castle trip, we headed straight to Lost World Tambun. As local Perakian, it was the first time for all of us to visit this hidden location. The entrance wasn't that cheap and you also require to prepare extra cash for the renting the "pelampung". We were so not prepared financially at all, have to "korek" from our pockets.

The interior was well-design despite it was still considered to be quite small compared to other theme parks. From street food to greenery mountain to mini-zoo, the concept was quite astonishing to fully utilise the nature in this area. Another interesting part of the theme park was hotspring integration. But, let me reassure that not every day is suitable for hot spring bath in Perak. The weather was blazing hot to an extend that we were boiled in the hotspring - double jeopardy@@ Recommendation: Check weather to ensure it is not too hot.

You can even spot some swans there ! Both black and white!!!!!!

How do you don't love the nature in Perak. However, recently on my way back to Ipoh, I can see a lot of hills being exploded and exploited for the granite/ lime stone. My guess was due to the virtual high demand of housing properties in Malaysia, more concrete materials are required.....Hopefully, government can properly control and ensure over-exploitation is preventable.

Denso Youth for Earth Action 2011 Memory Edition 1

Up to date, 2011 was my favourite year of all time as it was the year of freedom and chasing dream. Hahaha, perhaps, it was the year when I was still a dreamer youngster (^^). Anyway, it was summer 2011 when we received an email from our lecturer about the Denso Youth for Earth Action (DYEA). It is a programme  that truly embeds environmental awareness into the youths of today! You can find more information and even participate if you are interested at (here)!  However, I think this year is already closed. So, for those who are interested, you can prepare for next year (^^) For the winners, you can even join a foreign programme too, in JAPAN  !!!!! Despite I wasn't a winner that year, I really gained a lot of precious experience and enthusiasm in environmental conservation!

In day one, it was all about ice-breaking with the other 19 participants. They were all unique and special individual who were truly "green-minded". The 1st session was at the Denso Company, Bangi to introduce and educate us on environment preservation and conservation. After that, we moved into the Equatorial Hotel, Bangi!!!!! Yes, it was quite a nice hotel (^^).!!!!

In day 2, we were arranged to visit Denso plants itself. The operation and management was simply impressive with the detail of work involved. Below shows the microphone devices used while touring the plant (^^). Of course, the adventure didn't stop there. In the later part of the day, we went on another meeting/ visit to Department of Environmental (DOE), Putrajaya!

Two years ago, I was still not that familiar with Putrajaya. But, that time visit, it was an eye-opener tour because the architecture was simply astonishingly-designed. The meeting with DOE's director and personnel was quite fruitful too. The debate and discussion on environmental issues were quite a lesson to everybody involved!
I am so proud to be a part of DYEA 2011

The Ugly Truth of Bile Bear

Adapted from Sin Chew 2012

With all the hazy news recently, I was on a short escape back to Ipoh - A Heaven! Reason?! It is practically almost haze free. Anyway, to avoid the possible of exposure to air pollutants like CO,CO2, SO2, etc, I stayed inside my palace-feel home.

In the midst of updating my blog, I found a horrible news from my photo albums. The Bile bear aka the CAGED BLACK BEARS.  Based on Sin Chew Daily 2012, it reported a news on the cruelty on the black bear as they were not only being caged and were forced to wear a corset-like device to extract their liver juice directly from their bodies!!!! It is basically like performing a surgery without anesthetics.....

What was more disgusting was that Fang Shuting, director of the China Association of Traditional clamied that the harvesting process as harmless as “turning on a tap” [1].

Regardless any living beings, with the body being cut open without consent, it definitely would not be like opening a tap. Another horrific news from China. Hence, it is urged to:

SAY NO TO THIS CLAIM-TO-BE-EFFECTIVE HERBAL INGREDIENT!!!

The Hidden Japanese Garden in D.R. Seenivasagam Park

Recently, feeling quite bored, I have been exploring Ipoh. One of the hidden jewels is this place - Japanese Garden in D.R. Seenivasagam Park ! If you have read a post long time ago, there is another Japanese Garden [here] which was my mom and dad's favourite. The post was written 3 years ago! Yes, unbelievably, time flew like rocket! Reading back the post, it has rekindled some passion in writing my bloggie.

Anyhow, this is the majestic entrance of the Japanese Garden in D.R. Park. It was a joint effort between Ipoh city and Fukuoka city on 1989. Therefore, the garden is same age as me...hahahahahaha~~~
Photobucket
As you can see from the features, the garden is really Japanese-like because the design was once aided by landscape expert from Japan too. Walking around the garden, this gives a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Photobucket

Apart from that, the stone lamps are designed to be unique and similar to the ones in Japan. Basically, every lamp here is special. If you look closer, perhaps, you will discover that things are not what they seem to be..hahahahaa, sorry for being so philosophical! (^^)

Photobucket

Lastly, if you still remember one of the my header photos, I put a beautiful red bridge! Yes, it was from here. The bridges are painted in red which give a strong feel of appreciation of arts. Another feature which I am so fond of would be the path way made out of stones. It increases the connection between mineral and nature.

I wish that my home will be just like this. This comes with a price - money, hardwork, and continual improvement (^^)!!!!!

Healthy Lei Cha 河婆健康擂茶 @ Kampung Tawas

Photobucket

This place I last time visited quite frequently during my internship last year. (For the address and contact, you can see from the image above). Omg, how time flew crazily without mercy! Oredy 1 year! I feel so old! Anyhow, let's talk a bit about this traditional delicacy!

1st - It is a often by being referred as Hakka (客家)food; But, from where I come from, I was told that it is originated from Hopo (河婆). Anyway, they have similar culture with almost similar accent.

2nd - It is a mixed of various vegetables with minimal rice along with a very nice "green soup" (Some people would feel weird about this soup). Of course, it is not entirely meat-free because some dried shrimps are used in this dish in a traditional way! But, it is again up to you what you want to put in~

Photobucket

Usually, eating this delicacy, I would order another yong tau fu to accompany the luicha~~Hahaha, yup, the owner is an old lady who is always busy taking care of her grandson(^^)~~

University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus Green Week (UMNC) Going Green!

Finally, after studying so many years, my uni decided to take huge step in going green! Even though I consider myself as a green person, I still think my effort is not that strong~ I practice 3Rs and try to minimise the usage of energy and water. I am hoping to venture into renewable energy field. Oh well, what a nice dream I have!

Photobucket

Photobucket

This was the launching of Green Week. The second picture was the programme prepared by Our Nature Club. To be honest, this was one of the most successful event in 2011 in UNMC Campus (^^)~~~ I joined almost all the events there. (Catch? I can get a free tupperware and also support the Green Trend)~~

Photobucket

After the launching, there was a tree planting ceremony! Oh yes, I planted a tree that day (^^) Hopefully after 10 years away, the tree will stand strong and shade our Motherland !~

Photobucket

The next event was a talk from The Greenest Man on Planet! Super duper coool!!!~~~~

Photobucket

The last night was a SUPER DUPER fun night which was like a little Pasar Malam with night show (^^)

Photobucket
Oh yeahhhhhhh~~~ these were the goodies I got from the event! It was so coool~~

Back To Basics: The Green Little World with The Fruit of Passion

Oh yeah, I finally returned from the environmental programme. Apart from the packed schedule and tiring presentation preparation, everything was just okay! To be truly, I really am really glad that I join this event because in a actual way, it reminds me of what I once was!

If you remember My Little World original design, it was whole green with my fav green leaves picture. I started my blog going green. But, as time passed by, I am being driven away from this mission. Hahaha, I think complacency will always be an invisible problem!  Anyhow, I think that engineering will change a perspective of a person a bit. However, this environmental programme reminds me that green ideas must be involved with people. Will talk about the programme later (^^)~~

So, I hope that everyone will do their parts in going green! How? I bet we know all the basics, but, are you going to do it? That will always be a problem! I practice 3R myself. So, a small step of a large community means a huge step for the world! Remember that (^^)~~~

Photobucket

The cycle of life is really unique, right? Seeing the growth of this Passion fruit really enlighten my day! Hahaha, go green, plant trees (^^)

Flowery Farewell for Her @Floria Putrajaya

These 2 days, I had been busy farewell-ing a friend of mine! It seems that I am busier during holiday! I have a lot of unfinished chores, works, and even some extra projects to do. Haiz, all of these are most probably my own fault to make myself busy! Anyway, today, this post is specially dedicated for a girl! Yes, not just any girl in town! She is my big sister lah!!!!Hahaha, apparently, she is going to Australia to live with my bro-in-law. So, it is almost 2 months already since she left. Nothing will ever be the same! But, we can't always expect life to be the same, right?

I know that Floria Putrajaya, this event ended a long time already. But, the scent, the colour are still vividly printed in my senses! Yes, this post is for you, my sis! If you read this, aren't you glad that we went for Floria instead of sleeping at home..Hahaha!

Warning: This post will be filled with photographs! So, please be patient while waiting for the photos to be loaded!~~~Btw, I used one of the photos for Merdeka Celebration Post(^^)@ here~

floria 2010

It was quite far away! Yes, it was within within Putrajaya! But, luckily we managed to find it! After parking the car, we marched into the exhibitions. The admission was free! and, one thing I must complain!!!! It was baking-hot outside; therefore, they should at least prepare for more roofings!

floria 2010

Now, here was the outside area! I bet it would be more beautiful if we come at night. However, due to time constraint, we could only see so much! Those white lanterns should be stunning at night!!~~

floria 2010

Of course, because of the high temperature outside, we quickly went inside the tentsthere! Inside the tent, it was a whole new exhibition of flower arts. I was snapping non-stop on the unique flower arrangement. Haiz, at this moment, I again hope for my DSLR to come into my arms. But, no, I don't have a DSLR, just have to live with my amazing Lumix FS6! Yeah!!!!~~~

floria 2010

This was one of the most amazing items in the tent! Everything was made out of plants, flowers~~~It was very chic!!!~~ It was definitely not easy to make this at all!!!~~

After the flowery visits, we went back home and rested for a while before driving to LCCT! It was quite a ride! Located so far away~~~(><) and We also had our dinner over there @ Old Town! It was by far the worst Old Town in Malaysia!!!! Service bad! Food bad!! Everything bad!!!

floria 2010

There she was! Standing there, worrying that her luggage would exceed the limits! Dear sister, hope that you will have a great start and a great life in Australia! Like the Chinese proverb - The beginning is the hardest (万事起头难)As long as you have the determination, no matter how much time you use, you will definitely find your path there! Enjoy your new life there!

All the best to you! May you find a fruitful path in Australia!!!!(^^)

Big News! (China, Babies-Dumping, Porntip Coolest Quote, 988 Jamal)

China News: Haiz, seeing the world is falling apart, it is so horrible! China suffers the most, I guess. Even though currently replaces Japan as the strong economy country No.2 in the world,  China is plagued with the most atrocious natural disasters and the most saddening human error-results accidents(factory and mining incident). Let's pray for the best for them!Hopefully, China Authorities will also start on a strict regulation on the production factories on safety and environment issues.

Malaysia + US News: Okay, today, I am going to focus own my own countries instead of my own bad luckness! What are the big news in Malaysia that really attract you attention?I focus more on social matters more than politic issues. Yet, in actual, politic, economy, and social issues are all strongly related! For politics, I have no comment because as a University student, it is illegal to involve in politics even though I AM OLD ENOUGH (21) to vote. As for economy issues, I opt for green industry to blossom. But, who will listen to an undergraduate who knows nothing~~ Social, omg, this issue will always be the hardest to solve.

Aren't babies the gift from God? Yet, people would never appreciate them and they return the favour by dumping them into the dustbins like rubbish. So sad to see that Malaysia is having this kind of problem! According to thestar online (2010), "total of 472 babies discarded since 2005 with more than half of them (258) were found dead". This statistics is so horrifying! So, what went wrong in Malaysia? is it because of our weak legitimate authority? weak education system? I think that both play important roles! Currently, government is pushing capital punishment for baby dumping! Hmmm, do you agree with that?In fact, i am torn between yes or no. If yes, because of their cruelty towards their own flesh and blood. If no, because of feeling sorry for their ignorance youth that brings horrible consequences to them. They deserve another chance~

I think young girls and guys must think before they act![三思而后行] Or,youngsters don't read news anymore to know the severity of dumping a baby. Curiosity kills the cat! At the same time, education in Malaysia has to be re-evaluated for approaching this problems as youngsters are becoming more mature as young as 11!~@@ (I was still watching cartoon back then). So, instead of having sex education(Msian not open-minded mah) , Education Ministry should have social education and show them what are the consequences of their actions!
In US drama, it is usually the Social Department who would handle this kind of cases. Malaysia should have 1 tooo~~~~If anyone so happen to accidentally carry a child that you don't want, pass it to the Social Department and they will try to find a good foster family for them. Isn't like this better than dumping babies like rubbish!~ Just read a news that: 29-year-old mother killed 2 of her sons aged 1 and 2 because she thought that she was a bad mother! What a selfish act! If you are a bad mother, give them away! Don't kill them as this would make you the worst mother in the world!

Malaysia News: Another breaking news in Malaysia - Porntip (Thai) Versus Datuk Abdul Razak Musa (As quoted from thestar online, 2010)

Abdul Razak claimed: " the MACC expert witness Prof Dr Peter Vanezis was far more qualified than Dr Pornthip as he had graduated from Bristol University." and "Mahidol University, from where she graduated, was not recognised in Malaysia"

Porntip answered: "But, it's the top five in Asia."

Omg@@ This is by far the best quote I read from thestar online...Hahahahahaha~~~~~yes, have to do research before questioning other people's qualification~~From topuniversities.com (2010), in the Asian University Rankings, Mahidol University's ranking is placed 28 whereas University Malaya is places 42. Anyway, Ranking is not the main point in this case; but, the truth and the experience that really count!

Malaysia News: This morning, when I was hearing the 988 morning show, I was shocked to hear the female host crying! I thought something was amiss until just now, the news said that Jamal 988 was banned because of his show causing inharmonious in Malaysia.

What a shock! Firstly, I am not a fan of Jamal. His accent in Chinese was truly from China. Secondly, I don't think that he really causes chaos in our country. Yet, he was just like the reporter reporting the news; at the same time, giving his own opinions. If he was using racist slur, then, yes, he should be banned like the female principle and her little racist speech~ But, from the beginning to the end, he merely stated his own opinions. At the same time, this show was also giving chances for politicians to clarify the misunderstandings and their actions. One of the best example would be the KOMTAR case.

I still remember a bit of my Moral Studies from Form 5: Kebebasan Bersuara Di Sisi Undang-undang? Was it something like this? Yes, freedom of speech is very important. Hopefully, the authorities will look super into it before judge a person for causing disturbance in the country.

Cameron Trippin Prelude: Just Remember The Green

I wanted to update so badly; time is just too little. Just finished off the final assignment of the semester! I hate you - plant design! You are MOST TROUBLESOME coursework I have ever encountered! Then, it is time to prepare for my final, which is less than 2 weeks! Omg! omg! Omg! Omg!!~~~Having anxiety attack right now!. So, i wouldn't be able to update as frequently as I used to~~ But, keep supporting my bloggie^^~~

Okay, enough complaining and whining! Let's talk about something that we all should be concerned about. When we were younger, it seemed like time moves so slow. Yet, now in my 21 (21 bday post), I feel that time flies! When I was young about 10-year-old, I learned about recycling! I learned about environmental conservative. Since then, I heard of recycling from Primary School to University! Yet, I have to say that a lot of Malaysians just don;t really talk the talk, or even walk the walk. As for me, I ain't a Saint; yet, I tried my best to recycle whatever I can ! However, the truth is not because of Malaysians can't or won't do it, it is just that the Government was never really consistent in their programs at all! How many policies the Government introduce were successful?~~~They can have advertisement in TV shows every day. But, without proper implementation, recycling in Msia would not work!

Oh well, this post was not intended to criticize any parties. But, sometimes, I just can't help to feel that Government did not do enough ! We did not do enough! I see people throw away plastic bottles instead of recycling it! I see people shaving with the water tap on! I see people on the lights even though they don't use it!Yes, I am getitng emotional! Let's take a step back. Everything started from the trip to Cameron Highlands last year! It had been ages since I went there. It really changed a lot! Yet, today, this post is more serious! It is not the happy tripping prelude!

Before this, everything was greeeeeeen!!!! I still remembered the dreadful and deadly mountain roads to Cameron Highlands. It took us don't know how many hours to reach there! But, when we finally reached there, it was a fruitful experience! I still remembered the beautiful flower cars carnival held every year! (Wonder why there is no news about this even? already been demolished?) Today, from Ipoh to Cameron Highlands, it would just take about 1 and half hours to reach there thanks or no thanks to development. Cameron Highlands has successfully transformed itself to a tourism landmark! But, it came with a price!
  • road construction means more cars there (Yes, it took us 3 hours to go back due to traffic jam). This would contribute to air pollution
  • more people staying there means more building which means more construction!-less trees on the highlands - increase the risk of landslide and soil erosion.
  • more people means more food - land exploitation for agricultural purposes.

Photobucket
From the pictures above, can't you see that there are more buildings there than trees and mountains! Can't you see that tourists left a huge pile of "pollution" there? It was so sad to see it with my own eyes! IT WAS DEVASTATING TO BE TRAPPED in the traffic jams. I believe that  a lot of people would rather take beautiful scenic pictures; but, if this is the truth, I think we all should show it to the world! Let's show the real situation to the people!Yup, before showing pretty pictures of a place, we must see the ugly side as well!

I am not discouraging development! But, instead, I support sustainable development! With proper planning and implementations, I believe that Cameron Highlands would be developing better than now! Like building the premises with proper site designs so that, the mountains wouldn't be over-exploited!

Do you believe in 2012 - the movie? Even though the movie was a bit sucky, I have to say that it really did a good job in warning us! Right now, there are horrible natural disasters around the globe - tsunami, earthquake, sand-storm, tornado, bizarre, volcanoes eruption!!!!! Malaysia is super duper hot like crazy!!!!!~~~

I think that we should blog more about environment issues! If everyone of us blog and spread the awareness, maybe, there might be hope for us and the future generations! Let's try to stop 2012 from happening! A small step would be good - start recycling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: Next post, trip to Cameron ! It was still fun even though I sounded so harsh in this post(^^) Goo Green!

Nuclear Reactor in Malaysia?!

In the future 20 years or so, Malaysia might have its first nuclear reactor. I was rather surprised that our government has proposed to build nuclear reactor in Malaysia. Actually, around May 2009, I heard from my British lecturer, Dr. David that Malaysia are planning to build a nuclear plant to supply electricity and it would take around 20 years just to set up the plant.

After hearing the news, he asked us to discuss whether constructing a nuclear reactor plant is a wise move. Some of my course-mates were supportive of this idea. However, for me, I would oppose this idea. Reasons? Well, I can't deny that by building a nuclear plant, this would definitely support our needs for electricity and power. However, at the same time, we, Malaysians are taking a huge risk! About a few weeks ago, Star newspaper did a feature on nuclear plant. The pro-nuclear professors and influential people claimed that it is more environmental to use nuclear energy as it produces almost no emission of carbon dioxide. [It has its point]. But, the by-products of nuclear energy are more difficult to deal with. Not only it is radioactive, it is also quite difficult to find ample spaces to store them.

Now, let's say that the security of the nuclear reactor is more than enough. We should not be overshadowed by the past - for example, The Chernobyl's Disaster. Let's be open-minded! -some experts said. However, the horror of nuclear reactor plants' failures would breed decades of radioactivity in our lives -causing us to suffer enormous severe illnesses. In my opinion, Malaysia is a bless land-Sunlight 365 days, beautiful beaches, ... We can explore other ways to gain energy as nuclear energy is not really necessary in Malaysia. Solar energy is gaining its popularity(^^).

Finally, nuclear reactors need raw materials to generate energy - the main ingredient - Uranium. Since 20 years are needed to set up a plant, can we predict the future?! There are so many countries using nuclear energy - e.g : France. But, is it wise to follow their footstep.?Just like fossil fuel, one day, uranium would also have its limit! But, when do we know that will happen? Maybe 20 years later, uranium would be more expensive as the demand increases.

Reasons Not To Have Nuclear Reactor
  • location - where is it gonna to be build? outskirts? near kampong? If it were to be built near my house, I would definitely protest until my lungs out!
  • Trend - again, I think that our country is just following other countries trend! Now, my favourite facts - 1 min of sunlight = 1 year of the world energy supply!. If we can find a way to increase solar panels' efficiency, we would have almost never-ending energy.
  • Accident - if we can predict accidents, there would not be any accident! Human error, reactor failure.....

Herewith - I found 2 articles on nuclear reactor - pro [here] and anti[here] nuclear reactor.

So, what do you think?!
A nuclear reactor would solve the shortage of energy for our country for many years. But, sooner or later, new plants would be needed. From that, it would starts a chain reaction of nuclear reactor.

Is Malaysia big enough for nuclear reactors?

The Never-ending Combat of Malay Language Versus English Language

It is back to the same old story again. Which language is better for teaching mathematics and science? Currently,it seemed that the government has decided to revert back to the previous language. This means that the current textbooks would be a huge pollution to the environment. and current students would be a huge misery again. The change to English language teaching of mathematics and science has been implemented for 6 years! Now, I also don't know why they suddenly wanted to change back to Malay Language. (Did parents protest? public pressure?)

During my days, everything was taught in Malay. Therefore, it was a lot easier for me to study. Now, I heard that primary students would have to study mathematics and science in both languages even though it was changed to English Language teaching. In this case, they would have to sit 4 papers for science and mathematics. This situation is mainly due to the improper planning by certain parties. Well, when you change everything to English, just use English. Using dual-language examination paper most probably would not help the implementation!

Now, when most students were familiarized with English as the teaching language, they want to use back Malay Language. I think that students' abilities to adapt are stronger than we thought. However, the ever-changing of languages in teaching would affect their results adversely. Students need time to learn new knowledge. Reverting back to the previous language would imply that students need more time to learn the same knowledge, but in different language. Isn't this a bit irrational?

Even though I am educated in Malay Language for Science and Mathematics, I would support the use of English Language as the teaching medium. Reasons? Firstly, anyone who goes to/ went to colleges and universities would know that English is the main teaching medium (No more Malay Language in Science and Mathematics). Therefore, instead of using Malay Language as teaching medium, English language would be a wiser choice to prepare students for their undergraduates time!

We also have to understand that learning science and mathematics in Malay Language is not a definite sign of patriotism. To love our country, we have to learn the history by heart and to appreciate Malay Language sincerely. Even though I have not been writing in Malay Language for ages, I still remember it deeply (thanks to Puan Ooi^^).

Negaraku, tanah tumpahnya darahku,
Rakyat hidup, bersatu dan maju,
Rahmat bahagia, Tuhan kurniakan,
Raja kita, selamat bertahkta.
Rahmat bahagia, Tuhan kurniakan,
Raja kita, selamat bertahkta.

P.S: Dr. Mahathir has set up a poll here! English Language or Malay Language? You Decide!

Preservation of Environment [LaMB Post 2]

LaMB: Jack

LaMB or Lamination is a new form of human resources recycling by the Central Administration Bureau of Cerra (CABC). In the future, I think that with the limited resources on Earth, Cerra would be a new land of resources. However, no matter on Earth or on Cerra, preserving of environment is the guarantee for the future and this is associated with Sustainable Development.

First of all, environment is all about human welfare. Sustainable Development is the development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." (United Nation, 1987) This concept is really suitable for preservation of environment. By implementing these policies from this development, I would focus on economy, environment and social. (Ooo, I really sound like I am in my finals!!!) Okay, I should let this be fun!!!!

Environmental
  • Reforestation - Trees are the best solution for the increasing carbon dioxide.
  • 3Rs - Recycle, Reuse and Reduce. They are always popular.
  • Refuse the use of plastic - Create a pollution-free world.

The Cycle of 3Rs

Economy
  • Practice green industry - handle the waste by treatment in order to reduce its toxicity and reuse it in other ways.
  • Introduction of e-money - reduce the use of paper money.
  • Investment in green business by the government - a new direction to protect the environment.

Social
  • Green Education - New generation should learn about saving environment through "Green Studies".(My recommendation for a new subject starting from the lower elementary education)

These are my recommendations on how to preserve the environment. Some of the methods are quite easy to achieve. However, determination and a lot of efforts are needed to reach these goals! Preservation of environment is really important to ensure the future generations' well-being. Wouldn't you feel guilty using all your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great x n grandchildren....'s resources until they have nothing left for themselves to survive?! Therefore, think before you use! Future lives are at stake!!!!

THIS POST IS A RESPONSE TO :
If you worked for the CABC, what other policies would you implement to help preserve the environment?
